January 2021

Hello Nursery,

Thank you for all the amazing work that was sent to me last week. You are all Superstars! Not only have you settled into your new home learning routines but the amount and quality of work I received was amazing. Your videos and messages really make me smile. Thank you very much to the mums and dads working with you to support all your learning. You are Superstars too!

The children in school with me last week did All Saints proud. Your behaviour and work was also amazing!

If you need anything at all please do not hesitate to contact me via the seesaw family app. Remember that work can be shared through the seesaw class app and I will respond to work shared as quickly as possible up to 5pm each day. Work submitted after that will be responded to the following day.

Here are this weeks activities. I am also going to set you a reading challenge. You have all half term to complete this work and it has lovely opportunities to share books with your grown-ups at home. Take pictures of the reading challenges you complete and there will be prizes for those that complete it by half term.

Stay safe and keep in touch

Hello Nursery,

Thank you all for your patience and support as we have been organising our lockdown opening. I understand that everybody will be in very different situations at home. Some families may have time to complete all the home learning activities and more while others may be juggling lots of commitments. The remote learning activities will be uploaded onto the website each Sunday night and are for the whole week. Please share whatever you manage to complete with me via seesaw. If you need extra work or any help please just let me know. If you don’t complete everything please do NOT worry just do whatever you can! If you choose to do your own thing that is also perfectly fine but please share it with me so I know how you are all doing.  I will respond to work up until 5pm each weekday, work submitted after that time will be looked at the following weekday.

Here are the activities for the rest of this week:-

Wednesday 6th January

Encourage your child to draw pictures about their Christmas holiday. Ask your child to talk about the pictures in full sentences e.g., I liked playing with my toys.

Fine motor skills! Use penne pasta or cheerio’s to place on to straws or string to encourage your child to make small fine motor movements. This will help them develop their muscles ready for writing.

We did a lot of work last term on seasons especially Autumn. Talk to your adult about the things you remember about Autumn. Then go on a winter hunt! Wrap up warm and go in your garden and look for signs of winter. You could take pictures, collect items, make a video or draw pictures of the things that you find. Please share your winter discoveries with me on Seesaw or Facebook.

Friday 8th January

Play the bronze level Yeti game.

Yeti Game

What clothes do you need to keep warm for winter? Can you sort some of your own clothes into winter and summer piles? Then can you wrap up warm and take a pic showing me that you are ready for a winter day.

Penguin waddle – A fun and silly games involving children holding a balloon or ball between their legs and walking around trying to keep it in place. This makes the children waddle like a penguin and always brings lots of giggles. Encourage the children to think about other winter animals and how they might move. Tell me what animals and movements you thought of.

Remember you can send me what you have been doing via our seesaw app or on Facebook. Please keep me up to date with what you are doing.

Makes 1 coloured ball
Prep 10 minutes

You will need

  • 8 tbsp plain flour
  • 2 tbsp table salt
  • 60ml warm water
  • food colouring
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Method

  1. Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl. In a separate bowl mix together the water, a few drops of food colouring and the oil.
  2. Pour the coloured water into the flour mix and bring together with a spoon.
  3. Dust a work surface with a little flour and turn out the dough. Knead together for a few minutes to form a smooth, pliable dough. If you want a more intense colour you can work in a few extra drops of food colouring.
  4. Store in a plastic sandwich bag (squeeze out the air) in the fridge to keep it fresh. You can make a batch of colours and give away as kids’ party bag favours or hold a playdough party for your child’s next birthday.

Hello Nursery,

I loved receiving all your work last week and speaking to some of you on the telephone. It was lovely to hear you tell me all about the lovely things you have been doing. I would love to see a picture this week of your own adventure in Space. What would you do? Where would you go? Would you find aliens, more dinosaurs or a new planet? I can’t wait to see your Creative ideas. On Friday we will be celebrating VE Day in school with our own tea party. Can you have a tea party on Friday with your families at home? We’d love to see your VE Day celebrations.

Have a great week and stay safe everyone
