Enjoy the spectacular bonfire and fireworks display in Astley Park from 6.30pm – 8pm
Join Chorley Council in Astley Park, Chorley, for a spectacular bonfire and fireworks display with the magnificent Astley Hall as the backdrop. Watch one of the country’s best fireworks display teams light up the Chorley skies with a splendour of colour.
The event will take place on Astley Park’s playing fields from 6.30pm on Friday 1 November with the bonfire being lit at 7pm and the fireworks display launching at 7.30pm. There will be some food stalls for people to grab a quick bite to eat and attendees are being encouraged to come dressed for the weather and ground conditions – wellies and boots are recommended.
Entry to the event is free but there will be collection buckets for voluntary donations. Parking for this event is in Chorley town centre, with all council car parks free after 5pm. The paths from the Park Road and Queens Road entrances to Astley Park will have some lighting to help families find their way to the playing fields. There will be limited parking on Hallgate car park and restrictions will be put in place across Astley Village.
For one night only in November, Astley Hall will come alive with light, music and mystery as the jewel in Chorley’s crown is transformed. This amazing free event has to be seen as the historic Astley Hall is beautifully lit with magnificent light displays and candles.
Come along and see 400 years of history in a different light. From the Tudors to the Stuarts; the Victorians to Edwardians meet characters from the past as we illuminate Astley Hall and the Walled Garden for this special annual event.
The night begins at 5pm and Café Ambio will be open serving delicious food and drink.
Members of the public are encouraged to park in the town centre and use the free park and ride service that will be running from Union Street (outside Booths) to Hallgate from 4.30pm-10.30pm every 10 minutes.
Chorley’s Santa Express will be back to whisk families on a magical journey from Chorley town centre through Astley Park to meet Father Christmas at Astley Hall and tickets will go on sale on Tuesday 1 October 2019.
The Santa Express will be running regularly from its new stop on Market Street in Chorley town centre, opposite the town hall, between 9.30am and 4pm every Saturday and Sunday in December from Saturday 30 November until and including Sunday 22 December to take families to meet Father Christmas as he takes up residence in Astley Hall’s Inlaid Room in the run up to Christmas.
Every child who meets Father Christmas will receive a special Christmas gift and there will be some festive fun too.
The time slot you book for is to meet Father Christmas at Astley Hall so please allow up to 30 minutes before your time slot to travel on the Santa Express land train.
Alternatively if you and your family would simply like to take a ride on Chorley’s Santa Express land train, you can purchase a train ticket from the conductor at either the stop on Union Street, Chorley town centre or at Astley Hall.
