Love to Learn, Together with the Lord
Geography Curriculum Statement
At All Saints we aim for all pupils to became confident and inquisitive geographers. We place a big emphasis on pupil's locational knowledge and geographical skill development.
We aim to provide a high-quality geography education that inspires a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people, that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Our curriculum is designed to equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. As pupils progress, their growing knowledge about the world should help them to deepen their understanding of the interaction between physical and human processes, and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments. Geographical knowledge, understanding and skills provide the frameworks and approaches that explain how the Earth’s features at different scales are shaped, interconnected and change over time.
At All Saints we want all of our children to develop a love of Geography and have a deep understanding of the geographical concepts that they learn. We want our pupils to have a thorough knowledge of their local environment, giving them a sense of place in the world and curiosity about the wider world; enabling them to become global citizens who show a keen interest of the geography around them. Through fieldwork we want to create memorable experiences and a deeper understanding of Geography concepts expanding their geographical vocabulary. We want them to have aspirations of travelling to unknown destinations and inspire them to take an active role in preserving the future of our planet, for our natural environment plays a pivotal role in our mental wellbeing. Geography plays a vital part in the sustainability of the world’s natural resources so it is essential that our pupils have a deep understanding of this and are aware of some key influential figures that help to do this.
